Racing simulator events on Key Biscayne are close and straightforward: the Village is about 12 miles by road from our Miami showroom, inside our free 50-mile delivery zone. Two island specifics to plan for are the Rickenbacker Causeway toll on the way in, and the Village's special event permit, which covers events on public or private property and must be filed at least 20 days ahead.
Getting onto the island
Road traffic onto Key Biscayne passes the Rickenbacker Causeway toll plaza, which charges by SunPass or Toll-by-Plate: $3.25 with SunPass or $6.50 by plate for a two-axle vehicle, and more for larger vehicles. Tell guests in your invitation, especially those without SunPass, and plan valet or shuttles if parking is tight.
The Village special event permit
The Village of Key Biscayne's application says a Special Event Permit is required for any event on public or private property, submitted at least 20 days in advance and approved by the Village Manager. The application asks for:
- the permit fee;
- a certificate of insurance;
- a site plan showing temporary installations and where electricity and water are located;
- final inspections for any construction, electrical, plumbing or mechanical work before the event starts.
It also requires the person in charge to stay on site for the whole event. We are fully insured in the United States and provide a certificate of insurance on request, and we can tell you where our rigs will sit and plug in for your site plan. Ask the Village directly whether your event needs a permit; their rules decide it, not us.
Settings on the island
- Private homes and condos: a covered patio, garage or amenity room for a birthday or family party.
- Clubs and hotels: member nights, tournaments and holiday parties in a ballroom or event room.
- Parks: Miami-Dade's Crandon Park has a two-mile beach and picnic areas, and bans glass containers. Events in a county park need the county's approval, so talk to Miami-Dade Parks first.
Event ideas

- A club night with a season-long leaderboard.
- A Formula 1 race-week gathering for neighbors who aren't going to the track.
